PAS 1008:2016 Specification for the performance and testing of a single use flexitank.

The earlier version of this standard, PAS1008:2014 has undergone extensive review. Acknowledgement is given to Andrew Sangster (Braids) and Sergio Parenzee (Trans Ocean) of the COA Flexitanks division, as the technical authors, and the other organizations that were involved as members of the steering group.

As a result of the review, the standard is re-issued as PAS 1008:2016.

The standard is available from BSI shop and other ISO standard suppliers:

COA does not stock copies of PAS and is not able to distribute or make available copies of the PAS. It is a condition of the standards authority that PAS is obtained directly from bsi group or other ISO standards suppliers.

PAS 1008:2016 includes a number of amendments from the previous version. The principle amendments are:

Material tests– Test methods and criteria amended.

Rail impact test– Use of constraining equipment (internal side and end wall reinforcement bars) not permitted for the purpose of the test. There are controls such as recorded mass of the flexitank  and restraining bulkhead, use of 30,480kg rated container.

There are also a number of other technical and editorial amendments. It is essential that the 2016 version is referenced and applied by flexitank manufacturers and that audits, as required by the COA Code of Practice V5, accord with PAS 1008:2016
